Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes. Hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and non-invasive process. You remain in control throughout and cannot be made to do anything against your values. In this professional setting, hypnosis is used as a therapeutic tool — to help you achieve your goals, make behavioural changes, shift unhelpful perceptions, and improve your life.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind, similar to daydreaming or the feeling of being completely absorbed in a book or movie. It creates a focused state of attention that allows both the body and conscious mind to relax and switch off.
How does hypnosis work?
During hypnosis, your body and conscious mind relax, while your subconscious mind becomes more open and receptive. It's a gentle process of communication with the mind — helping your conscious and subconscious work together toward the change you want.
How much does hypnotherapy cost, and how long is a session?
Sessions are $200 for an appointment of approximately 2 hours, whether in person or online. This gives you the time to properly explore what you want to work on, without feeling rushed through a standard 45–60 minute slot — often a better rate per hour than shorter sessions elsewhere. Many clients notice meaningful change within just a handful of sessions, so the total investment is often less than expected.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies from person to person and depends on what you would like to work on. Many clients notice meaningful change within a few sessions, and you are never bound to a set number. Angela will talk through a realistic approach with you at your first appointment.
What happens in my first session?
We begin with a warm, relaxed conversation about what has brought you in and what you would like to change. From there, Angela tailors a calm, focused approach to suit you — there is nothing you need to prepare.
Will I be asleep or unconscious?
No. Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and focused awareness — similar to daydreaming. You stay aware the whole time and can speak, move or open your eyes whenever you wish.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
If a person is open to the thought and willing to experience hypnosis, then yes — that person can be hypnotised. Because you stay in control, how deeply you settle is always up to you, and it tends to become easier with each session.
Does hypnotherapy online work?
Yes — it works just as well as meeting in person. Hypnotherapy is guided by your own focus and imagination, so it travels beautifully through a screen. Being in the comfort of your own home often helps you relax more deeply and openly — you choose a quiet, controlled environment where you feel safe and won’t be interrupted. And because there’s no commute, online sessions are easy to fit around work, family and travel, with more flexibility on timing — all with the same warm, professional care, wherever you are in Australia.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. Online sessions are conducted with the same care as in-person sessions, and many clients find them just as comfortable and convenient. They are available right across Australia — in every state and territory, from the comfort of your own home.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
A wide range of concerns including anxiety, trauma and PTSD, depression, confidence, calm birthing, quitting smoking or vaping, pain management, phobias and more — for adults, adolescents and children.
Is hypnotherapy the same as stage hypnosis?
No. Stage hypnosis is for entertainment; clinical hypnotherapy is a calm, professional and confidential process focused entirely on your wellbeing and the goals you want to work towards.
Where are you located?
Angela offers in-person sessions across Sydney’s Southwest, the Macarthur region and the Central Coast, plus online sessions Australia-wide.

How do I choose the right hypnotherapist for me?
A few things are worth checking before you book. Most important: do you feel comfortable with them when you speak on the phone or by email? Did they answer all your questions clearly? Did their answers feel truthful and genuinely in your interest, rather than a sales pitch aimed at your wallet? And do they hold relevant qualifications and accreditation with a recognised professional association? Trusting these instincts will help you find the right fit.
What does an accredited/certified hypnotherapist mean in Australia?
Hypnotherapy is not a government-regulated profession in Australia. This means anyone can legally call themselves a hypnotherapist regardless of the training they have completed, and there is no mandatory licensing body overseeing the industry. A practitioner who is not accredited with a professional association is not required to meet any minimum training standard, is not bound by a code of conduct or complaints process, and has no obligation to undertake ongoing professional development or continuing education. Angela Christie is accredited with three recognised professional associations — the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA, USA), the Professional Clinical Hypnotherapists of Australia (PCHA), and the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ASCH) — each of which requires members to meet set training standards, adhere to a code of ethics, and complete ongoing continuing education to remain accredited.
Is everything confidential?
Absolutely. Your sessions and anything you share are completely private and treated with the utmost care and respect.
Why choose AC Clinical Hypnotherapy?
AC Clinical Hypnotherapy has been established since 2018, so you’re working with a practitioner who brings years of hands-on experience across a wide range of concerns — not someone new to the field.
Beyond that, your time isn’t watched by the clock. Sessions aren’t squeezed into a rigid hour — understanding the depth and complexity of what each person needs takes time, so you’ll never feel rushed or pushed out the door. Our approach is genuinely results-focused: you rate your own progress from session to session, so you can see for yourself that your time and money are well spent. You’re never locked into a set number of sessions and are welcome to come and go as you need — though weekly or fortnightly works best for consistency while working on a specific concern.
